syngo WARP – Metal Artifact Reduction Techniques in Magnetic Resonance Imaging
نویسنده
چکیده
■ Through-plane distortion: The local field offset leads to curved and frayed slices instead of the expected flat image plane (Fig. 1). Since both in-plane and through-plane distortions shift image pixels away from their real positions, image geometry appears to be distorted. In both cases, regions with severe field changes will lead to signal voids visible as black spots and signal pileups visible as bright spots. However, it makes sense to distinguish between inand through-plane artifacts, since different techniques are needed to reduce these types of artifacts.

Artifact reduction techniques in Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) imaging modality
Introduction: Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) was introduced and became more common based on its low cost, fast image procedure rate and low radiation dose compared to CT. This imaging modality improved diagnostic and treatment-planning procedures by providing three-dimensional information with greatly reduced level of radiation dose compared to 2D dental imaging modalitie...
متن کاملMagnetic resonance imaging metal artifact reduction for eye plaque patient with dental braces
Purpose To determine if metal artifact reduction can minimize magnetic susceptibility artifacts in the orbits for an eye plaque brachytherapy patient with metallic dental braces. Material and methods A 62-year-old female patient with a choroidal melanoma in the right eye received a 1.5 T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) simulation for 3D eye plaque brachytherapy planning. The protocol include...
متن کاملAccelerated slice encoding for metal artifact correction.
PURPOSE To demonstrate accelerated imaging with both artifact reduction and different contrast mechanisms near metallic implants. MATERIALS AND METHODS Slice-encoding for metal artifact correction (SEMAC) is a modified spin echo sequence that uses view-angle tilting and slice-direction phase encoding to correct both in-plane and through-plane artifacts. Standard spin echo trains and short-TI ...

PURPOSE To compare short tau inversion recovery (STIR) images with slice encoding for metal artifact correction (SEMAC)-corrected magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of spectral presaturation with inversion recovery (SPIR) or inversion recovery (IR) at 3T in patients with metallic spinal instrumentation. METHODS Following institutional review board's approval, 71 vertebrae with interbody fixatio...
متن کاملMagnetic resonance imaging of total knee arthroplasty.
Evaluation of painful total knee arthroplasty can be clinically difficult, and traditional imaging techniques such as conventional radiographs, arthrography, and bone scintigraphy are limited by poor contrast resolution and specificity. Traditional magnetic resonance imaging techniques often are nondiagnostic because of significant metal artifact. Forty-one patients (46 knees) had magnetic reso...
